Be Yourself While Being Someone Else! - Our Story and Purpose
The After School Players -
My concept of an after school theater program for kids started at St. Charles School in 2001 with a staged interpretation of Dr. Seuss's famous One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Fifteen years, 48 productions, and two locations later, the AfterSchool Players are proud to be the area's only venue dedicated to enriching the talents of young artists.

I hold a Master's degree in Library and Information Science and serve as a children's librarian for the Public Library of Youngstown. I am presently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Children's Literature. I believe that theater is a necessary, creative outlet for kids and classic literature is a wonderful learning platform. Combined, they offer a unique way to bring stories "from the page to the stage!"

I am proud to work with Stacy Anderson, a licensed Kindermusik teacher and professional improv performer, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communications with a minor in Music Performance from Ohio University. We hold BCI/FBI certifications through the State of Ohio and have over 65 years of combined experience in theater and performance.

OUR PURPOSEWe strive to start kids on a journey, a destination to discovery about themselves, their abilities, and what they are capable of achieving. We are dedicated to helping young artists unfold and nurture their God-given talents in a safe and creative after school environment. Our educational arts programs, including theater, music, movement and art, will teach, encourage, and inspire students to build confidence and believe in their passions.

OUR STRATEGY: Our motto is "THEATER FOR AND BY KIDS", which leads us to involve students in every aspect of theater. Our students single-handedly run lights and sound, design costumes, stage manage and direct. We believe that letting them take ownership is a green light on their lifelong road to success.

THE DUBLIN GRANGE THEATRE: Our theatre, affectionately known as the Dub, is a renovated building constructed in 1921. It was the home to the Dublin Grange, an association of farmers who held meetings there for over fifty years. Ask anyone in Canfield, and most likely they've been in the Dub for a concert, recital, exercise class or party.

We will continue this tradition by offering delightful children's theater productions based on classic literature. We also offer studio and rental space for birthday and graduation parties, bridal and baby showers and other milestone events.
DID YOU KNOW THAT: According to the U.S. Department of Education, the arts are essential to every child's education. Experiencing and making works of art benefit students in their intellectual, personal, and social development.
